Reality of the UN-Real

It will soon be 25 years since I was brought in to this world and I cant help but ask myself "What the Fuck am I doing here?"

Some say its too early to ask such a question, while some say you should never ask such a question. But I cant help it, it seems so awfully important, probably because a part of me is in an identity crisis, or probably am too egocentric to accept to accept the fact that, am just a speck of dust, in the grand scheme of things that happen in this world. Ask me now and I wish, I were John Conner, born to save the human race, but it cant be true. Its not true coz my mum's not Sarah connor. Oh, and I choose John Connor over all the other saviours of the world because, unlike Will smith in Independence day or the other tall guy, or any other guy for that matter, because Connor was not like the others. The others were always the best in their game; flying planes or computer shit or some.......Palaentology........Oh..am sure its the wrong spelling but who gives a Fuk. John conner on the other hand had no skills or powers, Arnold Shivashakarpillai would take care of him.

If this reason is unrealistic, the exact opposite of the purpose of the 25 years gone by and the 25 to come (am probably being too optimistic), would be .....to end up getting paid for sitting in a cubicle, then get married to..........(may be we'll talk abt this bit later), make kids, buy a house, a small car which is an embarrassment to Automotive Engineering, eventually end up retired in a rocking chair, with a newspaper in hand and spend time bitching about the world and everyone in it. This, am not prepared to do. Not even with a cocked gun to my head. I would rather spend my time hunting rats in fields, this at least has a feel of adventure to it. Think about it, what would you do?

Am sure we all want to be adventurous and have excitement in life. Because the world and the grand scheme of things don't permit us to be this way, we live a more mundane life. But the desire to do things and be someone that you really want to be, is a primeval instinct and cannot be suppressed. That's why we engage ourselves in things like, Video games and all the other virtual reality crap, that we have made a part of our lives. We play NFS coz, we cant drive the amazing cars we fancy and definitely not that fast. And NFS underground is an amazing example of evolution, coz the desire to drive into police cars and public property is also very natural and exists in all of us. Thats why we watch police chase videos on youtube. We know the perpetrators of crime cannot escape, but in the back of our minds we want him to loose the tail and run free from the cops. Then theres the super sexy VR(virtual....reality..u know what it means...sorry) girls with huge swingers and a backside that can beat the ones designed by god himself.....plus, they are always in the right clothes (skimpy.some might call) in the game. Why are they, present? coz no matter what your maritial status is, we would love to be surrounded by women of that sort. Which of course is not likely to happen in reality, for obvious reasons, hence they'r in our games. GTA is an amazing game. Am sure the idea was from the greatest or atleast the most truthful psychologist. It has every aspect of life that cant be real and hence is in VR. Theres countless examples of games like these....Mafia, Max Payne...100s of em.

So, Back to the argument. If you are still thinking, "Oh this is bullshit...", gimme a single example of a game where, you would win points by getting a promotion at work, or by mariryng or by producing offsprings (the process doesnt count, I must stress. coz there r a few games, where you win by displaying versatility in doing this). or win points by buying a house and creating a future for your kids.........Theres none. Oh no, there r a few, where you can win points by dressing up a VR barbie. Those.....I dont give two fucks about them for two reasons. One, they are usually the games for ugly girls or the ones who don't have a boyfriend to tell them, they are crap or cant afford an Xbox. Second, they don't help my argument here.

Then there are VR profiles......and places where you can morph your own pictures to look like jack sparrow or a poster on which girls swoon or even on paris hilton's underwear, however small it may be.

So in essence, we imagine ourselves being something that we are not, rather, cant be, due to great many reasons. And we live by feeding ourselves with regular doses of VR, to feel good. Thats a good explanation, but it doesn't address the reason: why we do or don't believe in some things that are not real, or things we are not sure if they are real. This I agree is an utterly confusing statement, but am trying my best here, give me a chance.

Let me illustrate with an example. If you have watched the Pirates trilogy continuously and again and again, am sure you will begin to talk like Cpt. Sparrow or Will or Barbosa or may be Elizabeth if you are odd..... at least for a bit, at least to yourself, nothing to be ashamed of, I did. I noted it evidently, when I spoke with this Scottish bloke the other day. after a bit through the conversation.....I started to sound a bit Scottish, stressing the R's in a funny way and all that, but I soon stopped; fearing the scott might do me with a hammer to my head, thinking I am mocking him. But it must have happened to everyone of us at least once......like when you act or believe you are someone else. This is not real, but our brains can be easily fucked with. What I am trying to point out is that, we can be easily influenced and tuned to believe in something.

For example, what if everything they told you about the earth being round was a joke, imagine you were in the MATRIX or being Jim carrey in The Truman Show. Would you realise that the earth was flat? next time you go to the beach try this. Say to yourself that the earth is flat and that the sky and the sea join at the horizon. Your programmed brain says its not true, but you can see the evidence right in front of you. They do join, even if its an illusion. I tried this last week when I went to a beach, it was quite scary. So If its that easy to question our perception, why don't we question things that we believe to be real. Things that don't even have the hard scientific proof or the intuitive urge. Truly intuition was how Pythagoras decided that the earth was spherical (Oh...I know my history guys...it is Pythagoras....you go recheck it). Our intuition has died, saturated with too many facts and truths, that it doesn't work any more. So we have learned to believe in whatever is being told. We believe in great many things of this sort, like God, Faith, Patriotism, Good and Bad and many many so....

to be contd.......
